~ E4 and Vega ~
The heavy C- and F-strings of five or six-stringed violins require the strength of viola sticks - but we also want to maintain the agility of violin bows, so they should not be too heavy. The Vega and E4 fulfil these requirements perfectly. Their outfit and design is a great fit for traditional violins as well as fancy electric instruments.
Weight: ca. 52 to 55 g. Round and octagonal sticks
~ Cadenza, Concerto, Sinfonia, Sonata ~
The initial series of violin bows was made in three generations. The first bows left our workshop in 1999 with black painted sticks and no engraving. In 2001 the ARCUS brand was engraved. The frogs were cut in the traditional square form.
Weight: ca. 47 to 51 g. Round and octagonal sticks
From 2003 on we stopped painting the sticks. The model name was engraved. To improve the balance all the bows received the slanted, lighter frog that was initially designed for the Sinfonia.
From to 2004 to 2007 we made the third version of these violin bows. The stick got a little slimmer in the upper half and the camber got a bit deeper. For most players this was a very welcome improvement in the feel, as it offered more stability on the strings without loosing any agilty. The bounce also became more easily to controlled.
Weight: ca. 48 to 50 g. Round and octagonal sticks
~ Veloce ~
In 2004 we developed this new model with the idea to create a bow that is especially easy to play and affordable for advanced students. It is fitted in nickel and with beautiful snakewood frogs. The Veloce and the Allegro are the precursor to the M-series that started in 2008.
